Bullock
(1887–1956)
Guy Bullock reached the North Col at 23,000 feet (7010 m) on the 1921 reconnaissance with Wheeler and Mallory, his old schoolfriend and climbing companion from the Ice Club run by Graham Irving, a senior master at Winchester College.
Born in Beijing, Bullock was a level-headed mathematician, who followed his father into the Consular Service and spent 34 years in Africa, South America, and Europe. He was given special dispensation to join the 1921 reconnaissance by Lord Curzon, then British Foreign Secretary.
