Hillary's Sherpa party loaded with supplies en route for Base Camp. To the right of the photograph is the Lho La, the col between the Khumbu Glacier and Tibet on the other side. The slopes of the Lho La look deceptively easy, but are constantly swept by ice avalanches from the cliffs above.
